On New Year's Eve, Nobita's family happily watches TV. However, Nobita keeps changing the channels, which annoys everyone. His father scolds him, and his mother says the child should be asleep by now, so Nobita and Doraemon are sent back upstairs. Nobita said he wants to watch TV more, so Doraemon suggests a good "first dream." He then gives Nobita the "Dream Player". Nobita chooses an educational cassette, but dreams of another Nobita lecturing him. Because this other Nobita is too strict, Nobita decides not to continue the dream. Nobita then switches to a "Western" cassette, defeating Gian and Suneo in his dream, but he can't ride a horse and falls off. Nobita again decides not to continue the dream. Nobita swaps his cassette tape for a "science fiction movie," but is defeated by his teacher.
