Nobita's mother is busy cleaning the house and doing laundry. Nobita and Doraemon say they are hungry, and she says she will cook right away after finishing the laundry. She thinks to herself, "What will happen to this house without me? It will probably be a mess, and everyone will be hungry." Just then, a phone call comes in from Nobita's grandfather saying that his grandmother is sick. Nobita's father, upon hearing this, tells Nobita's mother to go see her immediately and not to worry about the house. So, his mother leaves. His father tries his best to cook, but fails miserably. Finally, he decides to order food from outside. Nobita and Doraemon cheer, but then discovers that all the restaurants are closed and they can't order anything. Nobita's father irresponsibly tells them to be patient and goes to sleep. Unable to resist, Doraemon pulls out the "Partial Gourmet Table" and orders a multitude of dishes—curry rice, pork chop rice bowl, and desserts—a fruit platter, pudding, and coffee. After the three of them have a hearty meal, Nobita suggests taking the gadget outside to treat Shizuka to a meal. He then witnesses two children arguing over a candy house, so Nobita orders the candy house out for them. Before Nobita goes to the empty lot to say he is treating everyone to a good meal, Doraemon has already left with Mii-chan. Meanwhile, Suneo is boasting about how he has eaten many delicious French dishes at a top-notch Western restaurant, such as bourgren's snails, truffle soup, wide noodles, champagne-braised fish, filet mignon, and mushroom stew with cream sauce, making Gian and Shizuka very envious. Nobita says he will treat everyone to a good meal. Shizuka doesn't believe him at first and orders the aforementioned complicated dishes, but the three of them praise them highly after eating. That evening, Nobita says he is hungry again, and his father suggests eating Chinese food. Meanwhile, Mom, having heard from her parents' home that her grandmother's illness isn't serious, feels more at ease and decides to go home. A man wearing a shirt, sweater vest, and long pants—possibly her brother (later officially confirmed to be him)—offers her a place to stay the night because it is late and raining. However, worries about her family and thinking that they might be hungry and waiting for her, she braves the rain and rushes home with great difficulty. But when they get home, they hear them saying they have eaten too much. As a result, Mom gets angry after Nobita and Dad say bad things about her cooking bad food and declare, "From now on, we'll only eat food made with this gadget!" Later, she feels that it isn't worth making a special trip back to her parents' house for this, and she storms back to her room and slams the paper door shut. Doraemon, Nobita, and Dad are outside apologizing profusely.
