As it turns out, the "sinister figure" that appears to be ambushing Doraemon and Nobita is actually a hare that happened to pass by. Doraemon and Nobita also find three school-going children walking through the countryside, but don’t see any villages or schools nearby. On the following day, Nobita is forced to stay back in school again, but when he learns that Gian and Suneo are waiting for him to test the new hand-missiles on the latter’s robot, he rushes back home to finish building the robot in the snowy countryside.

As soon as the robot is finally assembled, Nobita flies it to the open lot to suppress (literally) Suneo’s robot before flying it back to the countryside. However, when Nobita returns home, his robot begins to move on its own. So as to prevent the robot from knocking down the trees, Doraemon and Nobita go to the pilot’s seat and summons it to fly. They discover that the countryside children had fainted from the blizzard and summons the robot to pick them up.

Doraemon and Nobita learn from the countryside children that they live in the village on the other side of the mountain and they have to walk three hours to commute to and from school. Doraemon and Nobita thought the children’s journey to school would be easier if the mountain wasn’t there, so they get the robot to help dig a tunnel to the other side of the mountain so the children's commute would be quicker. Doraemon and Nobita finally exhaust the robot's batteries when they return home, but the latter still has homework to do. Hence, he remarks that they should have stomped the school before the power ran out.
