Let's Live to Laugh

The episode begins with Doraemon reading a manga and Nobita being bored. Nobita starts asking Doraemon for something that can entertain him and make him laugh. He says that he doesn't have anything special, but he remembers one gadget and takes out a "Laughing Earphone" from his pocket. Nobita puts it on and starts laughing loudly after Doraemon's lines. Doraemon says that because of that earphone, people around him may feel uncomfortable. But Nobita doesn't listen to him and leaves the room. Before he can reach the exit, Tamako grabs him by the hand and drags him into the living room to talk to him. When she starts shaming Nobita for his irresponsible attitude towards his studies, he starts laughing so hard that Tamako gets angry and hits him.

Walking down the street, Nobita sees a barking dog, which makes him laugh again. Arriving at a fashion store, he sees Suneo and his mother. Suneo tells Nobita that his mother is trying on a new dress, causing Nobita to laugh again. When his mother asks him if a dress with flowers would suit her, he laughs even harder, causing his mother to blush in anger and stomp her feet, and Suneo tries to calm them down.

As Nobita continues to walk outside, he sees Shizuka crying on a bridge. He asks her the reason why she is crying. Shizuka says that her canary died, to which Nobita cannot help but laugh again, to which Shizuka gets upset at Nobita and leaves, and Nobita himself tries to stop her and apologize. Continuing to laugh, he passes Gian, who slips on a banana peel and falls. Thinking that Nobita was laughing at him, Gian stops him and scolds him, causing Nobita to continue laughing. Even more angry at Nobita, Gian beats him up.

Coming home, tearful and beaten, Nobita freaks out, throws the earphone away and thinks that Doraemon gave him this thing on purpose. When Doraemon approaches Nobita and tells him a joke, instead of laughing, he sends him away.
