Synopsis
Fandom WikiSuneo invites everyone to his house to listen to the chirping of bell beetles, and everyone thinks it is beautiful. However, after listening, Suneo takes a phone call and says that because the beetles are sold in his store, everyone has to pay 5 yen each to become a member and hear the chirping again. Everyone is very angry. Back home, Nobita asks his father to buy a bell beetle. His father says that there uses to be many bell beetles, but now there are fewer and fewer empty lots, and pesticides are being used, so bell beetles can no longer survive. Doraemon thinks of using the "Time Machine" to go back in time to catch bell beetles. So the two of them tell everyone that they will be having a concert at Nobita's house that night. Nobita and Doraemon uses the "Time Machine" to go back to Nobita's house twenty years ago and admires the persimmon tree in his yard. They are mistaken for thieves by Nobita's father when he was a child and are chased away. Nobita twice rescues his father from falling from a tree and a cliff. Nobita's father then tells them where they can catch insects and even catch one himself to show them. After listening to the insects' sounds for a while, they are captivated and realized they shouldn't have caught them. As children, Nobita's father gives persimmons to Nobita and Doraemon. Both the past and present days happens to be Mid-Autumn Festival, and as children, Nobita's father admires the moon. Back in the present, Doraemon devises a plan, taking out a flower that can make any insect's sound pleasant (i.e., Insect Sound Molecule). The two catch insects and drip the flower's juice onto them. That evening, everyone goes to Nobita's house to listen to the insects. Nobita's mother treats everyone to persimmons, and even the elderly people taking a walk outside stops to listen. Suneo, feeling unconvinced, goes home, gets a vacuum cleaner, and vacuums up all the insects. Back at Suneo's house, he releases the insects, only to discover they are a huge swarm of cockroaches.
