Synopsis
Fandom WikiThe What-If Phone Box
During the Lunar New Year, Nobita is flying a kite in an empty lot, but can't get it up. He falls and is teased. He then plays badminton with Shizuka, but loses and ends up getting his face smears with ink. Back home, Doraemon has prepared ointment for his injuries and warm water for washing his face. Nobita asks, "How do you know?" He replies, "You do this every year." Nobita is spinning a spinning top at his doorstep, but it won't work and the string gets tied to it. Nobita asks, "Why do we have to play these boring games during the Lunar New Year? I wish there aren't any." Doraemon then pulls out the"What-If Phone Box" and enters a world without kites, badminton, or spinning tops. As expected, Nobita finds no kites. Everyone in the empty lot looks bored and complains about the lack of games for children during the Lunar New Year. Nobita suddenly has an idea and asks Doraemon to take out his kite, thinking he's been playing with it since he was a kid and must be better than them. Sure enough , when he does, everyone hears that Nobita invents it. However, the kite won't fly and keeps dragging on the ground. Nobita explains that this is how you play by dragging it on the ground, and the boys start playing with it. Then, Nobita tells Shizuka that he doesn't like playing with boys' toys and takes out a badminton board, saying that the loser will have their face painted. Shizuka is delighted and invites the other girls to join in. The game begins, and Nobita throws a keyboard. Shizuka immediately returns the attack, but Nobita misses. Nobita then says, "You lose now. You should have moved out of the way and let the keyboard fall to the ground." Shizuka's face is covered in ink. The other girls try, but find that even though they try to dodge, they are easily hit back. No one can outsmart Nobita, and their faces are covered in ink. They all admire Nobita's skill, while Nobita feels a little embarrassed. (Doraemon can't help but laugh wildly nearby.) Just then, Gian, Suneo, and the others come over to tell Nobita what to do with the kite now that it was flying. They can't drag it along the ground like Nobita does, so they ask Nobita how to keep it moving. Nobita feels even more ashamed and says he didn't know.
Winning Back Shizuka-chan (Part 1)
The Dekisugi family travels to Mars in a spaceship. During home economics class at school, Nobita accidentally burns an egg. On the way home from school, five people are discussing whether boy should do housework, and Nobita says something wrong that makes Shizuka angry. Nobita sees that Doraemon hasn't put away the "Time TV", so he wants to see his future wife Shizuka. He sees that she has prepared snacks and is about to ask the children to eat, but the children say to wait a moment because they are working on inventions. Just as Nobita is wondering how amazing his son is, he finds that Shizuka calls him "Hideyo", which is different from the name of Nobita's son Nobisuke, and he feels confused. At this time, Nobita's mother comes upstairs and says she is going out and tells him to do some housework. Nobita is worried and hurries to do it carelessly. When Doraemon returns, he finds the house unusually clean. Startles, he rushes out to see if he's entered the wrong house. He pulls out the"Home-Ec Apron", promising it will be useful for chores. Nobita says he doesn't need one. Doraemon asks, "What will you do if you don't learn these things?" Nobita explains that his wife, Shizuka, will be able to do them. But then, reminiscing about his earlier confusion, he hurries upstairs to continue his observation. Finally, he sees the child, who bear a striking resemblance to Dekisugi, happily enjoying a snack. Shocks, Nobita questions Doraemon, who explains that while he's seen Nobita marry Shizuka, things could change. Concerns, Nobita decides to go to find Shizuka.
